About the Community
Duncan is part of the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Duncan retains is small town charm, but still has plenty of amenities, with both Victoria and Nanaimo just 35 minutes away, when you need access to these major centres.
Duncan itself is the smallest city (by area) in all of Canada, but most people refer to the surrounding area as Duncan.
Surrounding Duncan are beautiful oceanfront areas such as Maple Bay, Genoa Bay and Cowichan Bay, as well as nearby access to the Cowichan River, Shawnigan Lake and Lake Cowichan. For those that enjoy a good hike, many amazing trails await, including those at Mount Tzouhalem, Stoney Hill and Mount Prevost. These infrastructure upgrades will bring population growth, with the CVRD estimating net growth of 5000 residents by 2025.
